Kelli began her career in music at a very young age. She studied classical guitar for five years before branching out and learning to play the banjo and mandolin. At age 15, Kelli became the youngest member of the legendary Pete Fountain Jazz Band. She later toured with them performing across the United States. During this time she also developed her singing voice and learned to write her own songs. In 2009 Kelli released her debut album “Kelli Carter” which was met with critical acclaim. The album featured original works as well as covers of classic songs by artists such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and others. Her follow up album “Aquamarine” was released in 2012 and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Americana Album category. The single “One More Time” from this album received airplay on several radio stations across the United States. Kelli has since released two more albums; “Roots & Wings” (2015) and “Beautiful Mystery” (2018). Both albums have been praised for their expansive soundscapes which include elements of folk, blues, jazz, rock and country music. Kelli has also collaborated with other songwriters including producer Gerry Leonard (David Bowie) on several projects over the years. Kelli currently resides in Nashville where she continues to perform live shows with her band The Kells throughout the United States. She is also involved in several charitable organizations including MusiCares which offers financial assistance to struggling musicians in need of support during times of crisis or medical emergency. Kelli Carter is an incredibly talented musician whose music speaks to people all across the world. Whether it be through her studio recordings or live performances, she continues to inspire listeners everywhere with her passionate lyrics and beautiful melodies that are sure to leave an everlasting impression upon all who hear them!
