Gabi Holzwarth is a German-born American entrepreneur and philanthropist. She is a prominent voice for gender equality and diversity in the tech industry, and her work has been featured in numerous publications including Forbes, Fast Company, and The New York Times.
Holzwarth was born in Germany, but moved to the United States at age 11 with her family. Her career began with an internship at Goldman Sachs in 2002, before graduating from Stanford University with a major in economics. After that she worked as a business analyst at Google before cofounding an online video platform called Ustream. In 2014, Holzwarth joined the San Francisco-based venture capital firm Atomico as its chief of staff. She was responsible for leading the firm’s investments in several tech startups such as Skype and Supercell, both of which went on to become multi-billion dollar companies. Since 2016, Holzwarth has been on the board of advisors for All Raise, a non-profit organization that works to promote women’s representation in venture capital and technology industry leadership positions. She has also founded Women Rising Now, an organization dedicated to helping women succeed in business through mentorship and networking opportunities. Holzwarth is an advocate for gender equality in tech businesses and has been outspoken about the need for increased female representation at all levels of the industry. In 2017 she started “The Female Quotient” initiative which provides businesses with resources to help create a culture of diversity and inclusion within their staff. In 2018 she cofounded Holzwarth Investments with her husband Trae Vassalo which invests primarily in early stage tech startups led by women or underrepresented founders. The couple also supports causes such as gender equality education through their philanthropic arm - Holzwarth Hope - which has donated over $500k since its inception.
